Brief Information about the Department:
The Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding is offering courses for undergraduate (B.V.Sc.&A.H.) and post-graduate (M.V.Sc) degree programmes as per the latest VCI and ICAR syllabus, respectively. The Department is having well equipped laboratories with facilities for molecular works, and statistical software and bioinformatic tools for data analysis. The department is involved in survey, evaluation genotyping, polymorphic studies, molecular characterization using microsatellite DNA markers, PCR-RFLP studies of indigenous breeds of North East India. The department is having a computer laboratory with 20 units of computers connected with internet. M.V.Sc. programme in the department started from 2011.
